INTRODUCTION:
Restan, LLC, DBA, The Wilds, is applying for a Cigarette
License for the period of July 1, 1996 to.December 31, 1996.
The Wilds has recently been approved for an intoxicating liquor
license for the Wilds golf course and now wishes to sell tobacco
products.
BACKGROUND:
The license period for cigarettes is January I to December 31
yearly. Restan, LLC will need to renew their license for the
upcoming license period..The Prior Lake Police have done an
extensive background check on Restan, LLC and it's partners
and have found no problems to restrict them from selling
tobacco products.
DISCUSSION:
Restan, LLC has paid the necessary fee and filled out the
application according to the State of Minnesota guidelines.
Currently, the City of Prior Lake does not have an ordinance
regarding tobacco sales and as such, follow the State of
Minnesota guidelines.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Council has the following alternatives:
1. Approve the cigarette license for the license period of July 1,
1996 to June 30, 1997.
2. Deny the cigarette license.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Prior Lake City Council approve the
request for a cigarette license for Restan, LLC - The Wilds.
A motion as set forth in Alternative # 1.
