Monthly Building Department Reports

In my report to the City Council dated June 27, 1996 I referred to 25 single family homes
being processed for the month of June and 13 single family applications on file. The
monthly Building Department report for June showed only 20 single family homes being
processed rather than the 25 as previously stated. This discrepancy was caused by a
backlog of permits that did not get processed as anticipated. Building Permits are not
counted on the monthly report until after all departments ( Building, Planning &
Engineering) have accepted the applications. This keeps voided permits and errors to ,a
minimum. The total of 38 single family permits on file was accurate, however only 20 of
these applications were processed by all departments. Some of these backlogged permits
carried over into the July monthly report resulting in some rather staggering numbers. In
July we issued 32 single family permits, 71 residential alteration permits and 101
mechanical permits. The total construction valuation for the month of July was
$7,275,097.02. In comparison the total construction valuation for July of last year was
$3,810,601.95 and the total for July of 1994 was $5,363,200.42.
This years June and July monthly reports are attached for your review.
