INTRODUCTION:
Jeff Glewwe, owner of Knutson Services, Inc./United Waste
Systems, Inc. of Rosemount, Minnesota is applying for renewal
of a refuse hauler's permit in order to conduct refuse hauling in
the City of Prior Lake. Knutson Services, Inc./United Waste
Systems, Inc. of Rosemount has been operating in Prior Lake for
years without incident.
BACKGROUND:
Knutson Services, Inc. did not renew during the normal license
period with other haulers because of an office error. Prior Lake
City Code provides that refuse haulers in the community are to
apply for and receive their license annually.
DISCUSSION:
The application has been reviewed by the Prior Lake Police
Department in order to determine if there have been complaints
concerning this refuse hauling company. We have not received
any complaints concerning Knutson Services, Inc./United Waste
Systems, Inc.
ISSUES:
Knutson Services, Inc./United Waste Systems, Inc. has paid the
necessary fees for refuse hauling and provided all of the
information, bonds and insurance required by the City in order
to obtain a refuse haulers license in Prior Lake.
ALTERNATIVES:
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Remove the item from the consent agenda for further
discussion.
2. Adopt a motion as part of the consent agenda approving the
refuse hauling license for Knutson Services, Inc./United
Waste Systems, Inc. The license will need the Mayor and
City Manager's signatures if approved.
3. Deny the renewal application for Knutson Services,
Inc./United Waste Systems, Inc.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends Council approve the attached Refuse Hauler's
application from Knutson Services, Inc./United Waste Systems,
