Box 200 Jordan, MN 55352 RE: CREEKSIDE CIRCLE PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA Dear Mr. Kephart: \Ve have received your letter of September 28, 1995. indicating Braun's rec<)rnn~( nded corrective action in response to our fax to you of Septernber 13, 1995, addressing failing test results. We will provide inspection services during your work operatic,ns on this project. Both Dave Thompson and Steve Crawford are in town daily. Please schedule ulis work with them. We have yet to see a report from Jim Samuelson of Braun following the second tcst rolling which was performed last week. Jim indicated by phone mat you propose to cut out some portion of the Class 5 in areas which yielded during the test roll, and place bituminous base in its place, at least one day prior to paving. Your letter indicated the area of concern to be 6+50 to 9+50. We understand Braun believes this will stabilize the base adt:quately even though several density tests failed to meet the 100% con1pacrion specified and were above optirnum moisture. We will be present to observe and document the areas (0 receive corrective action as proposed. However, this is not to be considered for reimbursenlent under the contrHct ireIl1s, since (he construction performed failed to meet t...~e contract requirenlents. The project will still carry the same warranty as specitied. Sincerely. MSA. CONSULTING ENGINEERS ~ "\;? 1 Q-.. ..J-: I! / ~\/WJ.'L/ Paul Boencher, P .E.
