The review is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The responsibility for the design of structural features and the efficiency of equipment must be taken by the project designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included in this report. Special care should be taken to insure that the material and installation of the plumbing system are in accordance with the provisions of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. A copy of the approved plans, specifications, and this Report on Plans must be retained at the project location for future reference. INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations must be tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. As specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2830, no plumbing work may be CON ered prior to completing the required tests and inspections. Provisions must be made for applying an air test at the time of the roughing -in inspection as outlined in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820, subpart 2, of the code. A manometer test, as specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820, subpart 3, is required at the time of the finished plumbing inspection. It is the responsibility of the contractor /installer to notify the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry when an installation for a state contract job, Minnesota Department of Health licensed healthcare facility, or project in an area where there is no local administrative authority is ready for an inspection and test. All plumbing shall be installed in accordance with the Minnesota Plumbing Code (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0320). Sheet No. T1.0 incorrectly cites the 2009 International Plumbing Code. 2. The minimum size for underground waste pipe shall be 2 inches in diameter (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2350). 3. The waste and vent riser diagram incorrectly shows a 4 -inch floor drain served by 3 -inch sanitary piping near the water service. Drainage pipe cannot decrease in size in the direction of flow (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2420, subpart 3). 4. Verify that the floor drain by the iced beverage dispenser is provided with a code compliant trap (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0900). The trap was omitted on the waste and vent riser diagram. 5. Verify that the exterior grease interceptor construction and installation complies with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1115. The tank must be cleaned regularly, and records of maintenance must be kept for at least three years. This information can be provided to you in alternative formats (Braille, large print or audio). An Equal Opportunity Employer McDonald's Restaurant Plumbing Plan No. PLB 1205 -00113 Page 2 May 25, 2012 6. Pot or scullery sinks must be provided with waste outlets not less than 2 inches in diameter (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1390, subpart 1). 7. Verify that the tell -tale drain protecting the vegetable sink is installed on the individual drainage branch serving the vegetable sink. The plans incorrectly show the tell -tale drain installed on the sanitary branch that serves the hand sink and the vegetable sink. 8. Verify that the three - compartment sink is directly connected to the sanitary piping as shown on the Waste & Vent Piping Plan and on the waste and vent riser diagram (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1390, subpart 2). The Indirect Drainage Piping Detail, 8/P3.0, incorrectly shows the three- compartment sink discharging indirectly to the sanitary sewer. 9. Shutoff valves shall be installed which permit the water supply to all equipment in each separate room or to each individual fixture to be shut off without interference with the water supply to any other room or portion of the building (see Minnesota Rules, part 4.715.1800, subpart 6). 10. The plans show that a water pressure booster system is provided. Verify that the water pressure booster system complies with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1810. 11. Cleanouts shall be of the same nominal size as the pipes they serve up to 4 inches in size (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1010). A cleanout must be installed where there is an increase in pipe size from 2 inches to 3 inches and from 3 inches to 4 inches. 12. Verify that the backflow preventer provided for the potable water connection to the lawn irrigation system complies with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2110, T, and verify that it is installed in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2100. 13. To preclude the possibility of copper poisoning at the carbonator, there should be no copper tubing in the system downstream of the stainless steel double -check valve backflow preventer with an intermediate atmospheric vent. 14. The chemical /soap dispensing systems must be provided with backflow prevention in accordance with ASSE Standard 1055 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2165). Verify that the potable water connections to the chemical dispensing systems are protected against contamination through the use of code compliant air gaps (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2010) or approved backflow preventers (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2100 and part 4715.2110). 15. The plans show a 6 -inch combination fire protection/domestic water service within the property limits. The combination fire protection/domestic water service shall comply with the backflow protection requirements of AWWA -M14, Chapter 6 (1990) with the exception that the following statement is deleted from section 6.3: "At any time where the fire sprinkler piping is not an acceptable potable water system material, there shall be a backflow - prevention assembly isolating the fire sprinkler system from the potable water system." Fire sprinkler systems in which corrosion inhibitors or other chemicals may be introduced either directly or by pumper connections require a reduced pressure zone (RPZ) backflow preventer on the public water supply. Local jurisdictions may require additional backflow protection. Please contact the local water purveyor for information concerning their requirements. McDonald's Restaurant Plumbing Plan No. PLB 1205 -00113 Page 3 May 25, 2012 16. The installation of reduced pressure zone backflow preventers is permitted only when periodic testing is done by a trained backflow preventer tester acceptable to the administrative authority. Testing intervals shall not exceed one year, and records must be kept. All devices must be tested after initial installation to assure that debris from the piping installation has not interfered with the functioning of the device. The devices shall be overhauled at least once every five years. The installation of new backflow preventers must be at least 12 inches, but not more than 6 feet above the finished floor or ground level. 17 The plans show that the size of the storm water piping decreases in size upon leaving the infiltration system. The reduction in size in the direction of flow is only permitted if it has a desirable and beneficial function to the storm drainage system (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2420, subpart 3). 18. The water service line must be installed at least 10 feet horizontally from any manhole, catch basin, or any other potential source of contamination (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1710, subpart 3). This isolation distance must be measured from the outer edge of the pipe and the outer edge of the contamination source. Verify that the ten foot isolation distance is provided for the exterior grease interceptor and for storm manhole MH # 102. 19. Verify that the following isolation requirements are met: a. Where the water service pipe must cross a building sewer, the bottom of the water service pipe located within ten feet of the point of crossing must be at least 12 inches above the top of the sewer. When this is not feasible, the sewer pipe must be constructed of one of the materials listed in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1710, subpart 2, E. The water service line should not contain any joints or connections within 10 feet of the crossing. b. A minimum horizontal separation of 10 feet must be maintained between the water service and any sewer, whenever possible. No underground sections of building drain and building sewer pipe may be located within 10 feet horizontally of underground water service pipe unless prior approval is given by the administrative authority. Construction must be in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1710, subpart 2. 20. Draintile pipe which is directly connected to the storm sewer system is classified as storm sewer. Since all portions of storm sewer located within 10 feet of the water service must be tested, the piping located within 10 feet of the new water service must be hard piped, relocated, or removed. It must be verified that all draintile inlet elevations to the catch basins are above the storm sewer outlet elevations. 21. The submitted plans indicate the installation of a stormwater infiltration system. Please note that groundwater contamination and hydraulic failure are possible concerns with this type of installation. Verify that the administrative authority has approved the design for the storm water infiltration system. Please contact the storm water program staff at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) for information concerning construction and permit requirements. 22. The pipe materials used for the subsoil drainage piping must comply with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0620. 23. The RCP storm water pipe outside of the building must comply with ASTM Standard C 76 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0540). McDonald's Restaurant Plumbing Plan No. PLB1205 -00113 Page 4 May 25, 2012 24. The PVC plastic pipe material to be used for the storm sewer must meet one of the following ASTM Standards: D3034, F789, D2665, F891, or F949. The installation must comply with ASTM Standard D2321 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0540). 25. The PVC plastic pipe material to be used for the building sewer must meet one of the following ASTM Standards: D3034, F789, D2665, or F891. ASTM Standard D2241 pipe may be used for sewers 6- inch and larger. The installation must comply with ASTM Standard D2321, which requires a continuous granular bed (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0530). 26. The polyethylene (PE) plastic pipe material to be used for the water service line to the building must meet ASTM Standard D2239 or D2737. The installation must comply with ASTM Standard D2774 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0510). No more than two feet of such piping may be exposed within the building. 27. Ductile iron pipe (DIP) used for water service must comply with ANSI /AWWA Standard C115/A21.15 or C151 /A21.51 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0510). 28. The ASTM Standard A53 galvanized steel water distribution pipe must not be installed underground nor embedded in masonry construction unless all threads are coal tar enamel coated and wrapped (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0520). 29. ABS plastic pipe used for the drain, waste, and vent system shall comply with ASTM Standard D2661 or F628 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0570 through part 4715.0600). ASTM Standard F268 ABS pipe is not approved for use as drain, waste, and vent system piping. 30. ASTM Standard D3034 PVC plastic pipe may not be used for interior sanitary drainage systems (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0570 through 4715.0600). 31. All solder and flux used for the potable water distribution systems shall contain less than 0.2 percent lead. Use of 50 -50 solder or flux containing more than 0.2 percent lead is prohibited in potable water distribution systems. Any solder other than 95 -5 tin - antimony or 96 -4 tin - silver must be specifically approved by the administrative authority prior to use (see Minnesota Statutes, Section 326B.439). Joints to be soldered must be properly fluxed with noncorrosive paste -type flux complying with ASTM Standard B813 -00. 32. The hose between the mixing valve and the chemical dispensing equipment must be rated for potable water use. 33. Solvent weld joints in PVC pipe must include use of a primer which is of contrasting color to the pipe and cement (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0810, subpart 2). NOTES: 1.
