PREPARED BY: Casey McCabe, Community Development Specialist AGENDA ITEM: EDA UPDATES DISCUSSION: Introduction The EDA held its regular scheduled meeting on Monday, October 21, 2013. The EDA discussed the following items on their agenda. Business Retention & Expansion Survey Results Third Quarter Financial Report EDAC and Technology Village Appointments Appoint EDA Member to be on the Technology Village Board of Directors South Downtown Study Options Recommendation to the City Council History Business Retention & Expansion Survey Results The EDA reviewed, discussed and accepted the BR&E survey report. The EDA discussed opportunities for better communication from the city to the business community to promote ef- forts of the city to address some of the concerns expressed in the surveys. The EDA approved a motion to direct staff to work with the EDAC to develop a communication plan to promote the business growth and positive steps taken by the City of Prior Lake. Third Quarter Financial Report The EDA accepted the September 30, 2013 Financial Report as submitted by the EDA Treas- urer. Staff provided a preliminary summary financial report as of September 30, 2013 for the Economic Development Authority Special Revenue Fund. The report reflects revenue and ex- penditure activity for the first nine months of 2013. EDAC and Technology Village Appointments The EDA appointed three people to the EDAC and recommend the City Council appoint two people to the Technology Village Board of Directors. The EDA appointed the following members to the EDAC: Gary Brauch Jim Mahoney Annie Sheehan-Kerber The EDA recommended appointment of the following two applicants to Technology Village: David Rech Kris Pauna All of these appointments begin November 1, 2013 and end October 31, 2016. Appoint EDA Member to be on the Technology Village Board of Directors The Technology Village Bylaws require that at least one EDA member be seated on the Tech- nology Village Board of Directors. The EDA seat on the board was vacated when Bob Morris resigned from the EDA and Technology Village board. The EDA appointed Rick Bump to serve on the board. South Downtown Study Options Recommendation to the City Council The city council asked the EDA to review the downtown south traffic study and make a recom- mendation to the city council to support an alignment for south downtown roadways to enhance economic development in the short and long term. The EDA had a long discussion about the downtown south study and ultimately recommended concept 6 as the preferred alignment. Conclusion Updates of EDA activity related to the above listed topics will be presented to the EDAC during the October 24, 2013 meeting. ISSUES: Update only. FINANCIAL None.
