AGENDA ITEM: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REMOVAL
OF NO PARKING SIGNS ON GREEN HEIGHTS TRAIL AND DUTCH AVENUE.
DISCUSSION: Historv: At the last meeting, the City Council considered a report and
recommendation from the Traffic Safety Committee (TSC) regarding a request
from Captain Jack's. The Council approved the recommendation from the TSC,
but the City Attorney asked to review the approving resolution.
Current Circumstances: The attached resolution has been prepared by the City
Attorney and is recommended for adoption as part of the consent agenda.
ISSUES:
The Council fully considered the issues associated with the requests at its last
meeting, and directed clarification of the action in the resolution.
ALTERNATIVES: (1) Adopt the attached resolution as part of the consent agenda.
(2) Remove this item from the consent agenda.
RECOMMENDED

RESOLUTION 04-XX
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REMOVAL OF
NO PARKING SIGNS ON GREEN HEIGHTS TRAIL AND DUTCH AVENUE
FOR ADDITIONAL OFF-STREET PARKING FOR THE RESTAURANT.

WHEREAS, the owners of Captain Jack's restaurant have indicated that they have a need for
additional parking for their customers; and
WHEREAS, the owners have proposed to the City various options to address the parking limitations;
and
WHEREAS, the City's Transportation Safety Committee has met to consider the various parking
options and to make a recommendation to the City Council.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA
that:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. As one option to address the parking limitations at Captain Jack's, City staff are hereby authorized
to remove, only for the period between June 1, 2004 and October 15, 2004, the "No Parking" signs
along the vacant lot on Green Heights Trail (75 feet west of Dutch Avenue) and Dutch Avenue (75
feet south of Green Heights Trail).
3. Nothing in this resolution is intended to obligate the City to (a) authorize the removal of No Parking
signs in subsequent years, or (b) identify and approve other options to address the parking
limitations at Captain Jack's.
