AGENDA ITEM: PRESENTATION TO RECOGNIZE RETIRING PLANNING DIRECTOR DON
RYE.
PRESENTATION: Don Rye will be retiring effective June 15,2004. In his 32 years of public service,
Don has lent his expertise to the cities of 81. Paul, 81. Louis Park and Prior Lake.
In addition, Don worked as a planning consultant for a private firm. He also
worked at the Department of Natural Resources for 6 years.
I hired Don to be Prior Lake's Planning Director in 1995. I needed a person who
could update an out-of-date zoning and subdivision ordinance, and prepare a
new Comprehensive Plan. Don accomplished that and much more. For all of his
work, I am very grateful.
On June 15th Don will lay down his planner's pencil and reference materials, and
pick up his fishing rod, hunting gear or golf clubs. Don is an avid outdoorsman.
He looks forward to having the time now to further hone some of these skills and
the opportunity to travel and visit his adult son and daughter.
Don - I, City staff and the City Council thank you for your many contributions to
our growing Prior Lake community. We wish you the best of luck in your
retirement.
The Mayor will present Don with a plaque recognizing his service to Prior Lake.
