Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC)
2013 Accomplishments:
Completed Business Retention & Expansion Surveys & BR&E Program Summary Report
Held the Business & Industry Forum event
Initiated and recommended amendments to the Industrial zoning ordinance standards
2014 Goals:
Revise and improve marketing materials for Prior Lake
Cooperate with Scott County’s First Stop Shop and SCALE
Continue to address comments from the Business & Industry Forum and complete additional BR&E
survey research. Per Bill Henry
Technology Village Board of Directors
2013 Accomplishments:
Established the Technology Village program; including, Board of Directors, program development,
marketing & promotion, and facility build-out
Achieved full occupancy of Technology Village (6 program participants)
Developed a Technology Village Phase II Business Plan for program expansion
2014 Goals:
Continue to market the program and identify potential program participants
Form an academic affiliation and community support program for program participants
Establish financial resources or funding network to support participant business expansion
Implement Technology Village Phase II Business Plan and explore Phase III Business Plan
Economic Development Authority (EDA)
2013 Accomplishments:
Established of the City of Prior Lake Sewer and Water Fee Deferral Program
Formulated a list of Economic Development Financing Tools
Revised the Business Subsidies Policy & drafted a new Local Business Incentive Policy
Supported a successful first year of Technology Village
Encouraged completion of cooperative fiber project with partners of the City, County and Integra
Supported the EDAC to complete business retention, business and industry forum, and a newsletter
Supported the County Highway 42 Corridor Land Use Study.
2014 Goals:
Seek out opportunities to improve Downtown Transportation system
Re-establish the Business Façade Improvement Program
Encourage developments in Deerfield Industrial Park and redevelopment projects in the Downtown
Identify ways in which the city can continue to be pro-business through ordinance modification and
support of the EDAC Business and Industry Forum
