The Common Council of the City of Prior Lake met in regular session on
Monday, May 18, 1981 at 7:30 PH in the Council Chambers. Mayor Stock

- called the meeting to order. Present were Mayor Stock, Councilmen Bissonett,

Busse, Thorkelson, Watkins, City Manager McGuire, City Engineer Anderson,
and City Attorney Sullivan.

The Minutes of May 11, 1981 were reviewed'.

Motion by Busse to approve the minutes of May 11, 1981 as submitted,
seconded by Bissonett and'upon,a vote taken it was duly passed.
EQUALIZATION
Mayor Stock called the Equalization hearing to order. The published

notice was read. Mr. LeRoy Arnoldi, Seat County Assessor was present

and commented that the purpose of this meeting is to see if there are any

quest-ions with the 1981 real estate, and, if anyone feels that their

estimated market value is unjust.

Mr. Wallace Langhorst, 16280 St. Paul,Ave., SE, was present and stated

that the taxes on his hardware store building are too high." He also
stated "that if this increase continues, all the small business owners
w;ill,have to Close their businesses because they will be unable to afford

the high taxes.
Council - discussed this matter and felt that the City cannot change the

takes, however, the businessmen should contact their state,Iegislators,

because the state stl,.ptes dictate how taxes must be assessed.

Mr. Arnoldi commented on the former Clinton Todd property In Boudins Manor.
Because of deterioration, the value of the property was decreased. _
Motion by Bissonett to approve the 1981 estimated market values as in-
dicated the County Assessor, seconded by Watkins and-upon a vote taken

at the license fees for next year and if the Council has any suggestions, ,hey
may give them to him.
