HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-0261 P J CITY OF PRIOR LAKE RESOLUTION 85-26 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE 6NM COUNTY GOVERWM STUDY COMMISSION a) The consolidation of the offioes of Auditor and Treasurer pursuant to Minnesota Statute 375A.10-375A.11. b) The making of the said consolidated Auditor/Treasurer office appointive rather than elected pursuant to Minnesota Statute 37SA.10- 375A.11. C) (6121447.4230 W MEAS, on October 15, 1984 Judge Michael A. Young appointed a Government Study Commission for the purpose of reviewing and analyzing the County govermment options as setforth in Minnesota Statutes 375A.01 to 375A.13; and WHEREAS, the Commission met on a bi- monthly basis for one year taking testimony from County, City and Township officials and the general public with regard to the proposed options, and WHEREAS, on October 9, 1985 the Study Commission unanimously adopted a report recommending three of the eleven options studied to the voters of Scott County for their consideration; and WEBS, The three recommended options will be the subject of a County --wide referendum at the earliest practical time for the voters of Scott County; and WHEREAS, mambers of the City Council of Prior Lake did express support for the County Manager form of County goveLls nt; and WHEREAS, the three options being recommended by the Commission are consistent with the administrative structure found within the County Manager form of government, and consistent with the position of the City Council. WN, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: 1. The City Council of the City of Prior Lake does go on record supporting the three options recommended by the Study Commission,, t"it: The creation of the position of Civil County Counsel for Scott County pursuant to Minnesota Statute 375A.10. 4629 DAKOTA STREET S.E. P.O. BOX 359 PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA, 55372 IFJi + 2. The adoption of these three options may increase significantly the t efficiency and accountability of Scott County Government. w / 3. The voters of the City of Prior bake and all of Scott County axe: encouraged to vote "yes" on each option when they appear on tyie referendum ballot. 4. The City Manager of Prior Lake is directed to disseminate this resolution County -wide. Massed and adopted this 28t1i day of =aber , 1,985.
