AGENDA ITEM: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION APPROVING A CERTIFICATE
OF CORRECTION TO PLAT FOR HICKORY SHORES SOUTH
DISCUSSION: Introduction
The purpose of this agenda item is to consider approval of a land surveyor's
certificate of correction to the plat of Hickory Shores South. This correction will
change one street name within the subdivision and does not affect street or lot
dimensions.
History
The final plat of Hickory Shores South was approved by the Prior Lake City
Council on March 10, 2014 and was filed in the office of the Scott County Re-
corder on May 7, 2014.
Current Circumstances
Occasionally recorded plats have errors or omissions on them. Minnesota Stat-
utes Section 505.174 provides for either the surveyor who signed the plat or
another licensed surveyor to record a Certificate of Correction to Plat to notify
the public of a correction.
After the final plat of Hickory Shores South was recorded, it was discovered
that a street within the plat was incorrectly identified as Wedgewood Drive. This
street (Wedgewood Drive) will eventually connect with existing Wedgewood
Lane. To avoid addressing confusion or potential emergency response issues
in the future, staff from the City of Prior Lake and Scott County are recommend-
ing a Certificate of Correction to Plat be recorded which will officially change
the street name from Wedgewood Drive to Wedgewood Lane on the plat of
Hickory Shores South.
Conclusion
The attached land surveyor's certificate of correction to plat will officially change
the street name of Wedgewood Drive to Wedgewood Lane on the plat of Hick-
ory Shores South.
ISSUES: The certificate of correction to plat shall be recorded prior to addressing the
parcels and issuing building permits for properties located in Hickory Shores
South.
FINANCIAL Document recording fee of $46.00.
IMPACT:
ALTERNATIVES: 1. Motion and a second approving the Resolution authorizing the Mayor and
City Manager to sign the Land Surveyor's Certificate of Correction to Plat
for Hickory Shores South.
2. Motion and a second to table action and provide direction to staff.
RECOMMENDED Alternative No. 1.

A RESOLUTION APPROVING A CERTIFICATE OF PLAT CORRECTION
FOR HICKORY SHORES SOUTH

WHEREAS, Occasionally recorded plats have errors or omissions on them; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 505.174 provides for either the surveyor who signed the plat or
another licensed surveyor to record a Certificate of Correction to Plat to notify the public of a
correction; and
WHEREAS, After the final plat of Hickory Shores South was recorded on May 7, 2014, it was discovered
that the street name of Wedgewood Drive was incorrectly named and should be named
Wedgewood Lane; and
WHEREAS, The Land Surveyor submitted a Land Surveyor's Certificate of Correction to Plat for Hickory
Shores South which will officially change the street name of Wedgewood Drive to Wedgewood
Lane; and
WHEREAS, The Prior Lake City Council reviewed the Land Surveyor's Certificate of Correction to Plat on
May 27, 2014 and authorized the Mayor and City Manager to sign the Land Surveyor's
Certificate of Correction to Plat for Hickory Shores South.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE,
MINNESOTA as follows:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. The City Council authorizes the Mayor and City Manager to sign the Land Surveyor's Certificate of
Correction to Plat for Hickory Shores South.

Pursuant to the provisions of Minnesota Statutes Section 505.174, Peter J. Hawkinson, the undersigned, a
Licensed Land Surveyor in and for the State of Minnesota, declares as follows:
1. That I prepared the plat of HICKORY SHORES SOUTH filed on May 7, 2014 in the office of the County
Recorder, Scott County, Minnesota, as Document No. A957709.
2. That said plat contains errors, omissions, or defects in the following particulars, to -wit:
That the street name Wedgewood Drive was incorrectly identified.
3. That said plat is hereby corrected in the following particulars, to wit:
The street name Wedgewood Drive has been changed to Wedgewood Lane.
