Prior Lake, MN 55372-1714 October 18, 2004 10C Frank Boyles, City Manager AGENDA ITEM: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF APPOINTMENT TO ADVISORY COMMITTEES TO FILL VACANCIES. DISCUSSION: Historv. Members of the Planning Commission, Parks Advisory Committee and Lake Advisory Committee serve three year terms. This year there are four positions between the Planning Commission and Parks Advisory Committee that need to be filled. There are no reappointments to be made this year to the Lake Advisory Committee. ALTERNATIVE: RECOMMENDED MOTION: On the Planning Commission, Dan Ringstad's term expires at the end of this month and Margi Atwood has resigned. On the Parks Advisory Committee, Pat McFadden's term is expiring and Lori Helgestad has resigned. Current Circumstances. The bylaws indicate that applicants are interviewed by the chair of the body, the City Council and staff liaison and me. Four Planning Commission candidates were interviewed by Andrea Blomberg, Tony Stamson, Jane Kansier and me. Three applicants have previous Planning Commission experience as shows on the attached applications. After considering all applications, the committee recommends the re- appointment of Dan Ringstad to a term concluding on Oct. 31, 2007, and that Alan Billington be appointed for a first term concluding on October 31, 2007. Three Park Advisory Committee candidates were interviewed by Chad LeMair, Mike Feriancek, Chris Esser and me. The applications for each are enclosed. After considering all applications the committee recommends appointment of all three candidates as follows: Pat McFadden Through October 31, 2007 Dick Carlson Through October 31, 2007 Todd Loose Through October 31, 2007 The committee's rationale was that one of the candidates is a veteran committee member. The other two new appointments represent P.L.A.Y. and the Soccer Club respectively. The intent is to allow the Park Advisory Committee to increase to six. This necessitates the attached revisions to the PAC bylaws. Conclusion: The Council should determine if it desires to make the appointments as recommended by the committees. 1.
