History Last fall, the staff solicited applicants for service on the City's various advisory committees. Despite the fact that the Parks Advisory Committee had up to three vacancies based upon the bylaws, the City received no applications. When the other committees were filled last October, the staff indicated that we would solicit applications once again. Current Circumstances In December, the staff placed Parks Advisory Committee vacancy notices on the website and in the official newspaper. We received applications from five individuals. On Friday, January 31, 2015, an interview team composed of Councilor Keeney, PAC Chair Tschetter, Recreation Coordinator Barstad and myself spoke with the candidates. The applicants included: • Kevin Linehan • Alexandra Matyja • Catlin Soukup • Kenneth Calautti • Andrew Uzpen The applications for each are attached. Conclusion While each candidate had something to offer to the Parks Advisory Committee, the following three are recommended for appointment: Catlin Soukup, Kenneth Calautti and Andrew Uzpen. ISSUES: Each of the candidates would be good additions to the PAC. Those recommended has a good understanding of the City's park system and regularly used one or more portions thereof. Both answered affirmatively so we will place their applications in our files for future reference. Councilor Keeney may have some additional comments he would like to make regarding these interviews. In my role I am responsible for analyzing vertical markets in Power,Industrial and Infrastructure. These vertical markets include water management,oil&gas,infrastructure,petrochemical processing,wind and nuclear power. I have to determine if the markets are expanding or contracting and then develop a strategy and tactics around capturing market share. Prior to this role I was the Northeast Regional Sales Manager for BASF. I managed thirteen direct reports that covered an area from Boston,MA to Richmond,VA and out to Buffalo,NY. This was a forty million dollar business that revolved around the restoration or high rise buildings and parking structures. Most of the work was with engineers and architects.
