Tonight, Mayor Hedberg will swear Lindsey Ayers in as the newest Police Officer. Minnesota Statutes Section 358.10 entitled "Officials May Administer, when." States: (a) All persons holding office under any law of this state, or under the charter or ordinances of any municipal corporation thereof, including judges and clerks of election, and all committee members, commissioners, trustees, referees, appraisers, assessors, and all other authorized or required by law to act or report upon any matter of fact, have the power to administer oaths they deem necessary to the proper discharge of their respective duties. Police Chief Mark Elliott will introduce Lindsey, then The Mayor will administer the Oath, ask for comments from Officer Ayers, and then recess the meeting temporarily to allow time for pictures and congratulations. Lindsey is a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Lindsey's past work experience includes working for the St. Paul Police Department, Minnesota State Fair Police, and the Buffalo Lake Police Department. Lindsey will spend the next 12 weeks in the field training program and will then be assigned to the patrol division.
