Prior Lake, MN 55372-1714 MEETING DATE: AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: AGENDA ITEM: PRESENTATION: CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT April 18, 2005 8B Frank Boyles, City Manager PROCLAMATION DECLARING MAY 5, 2005, AS NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER IN PRIOR LAKE. Since 1996, the National Day of Prayer has been observed in Prior Lake through proclamation of the Mayor. Churches and communities throughout the State participate in this day through various celebrations, prayer vigils, and other similar events organized to provide education, fellowship and leadership. In Prior Lake, Connie Perrin is once again organizing the event. This year, Lakefront Park Pavilion will be the site of a community prayer service on May 5, from 7 - 8 p.m. All Prior Lake area residents are invited to attend. In these difficult times of world unrest and increased concern for security at home, it seems appropriate for the Council to endorse the participation of Prior Lake residents in a National Day of Prayer. Attached is a Proclamation, to be read by mayor Haugen, designating May 5, 2005, as National Day of Prayer in Prior Lake. www. cityofpriorlake, com I:\COUNCIL~GNRPTS~005\041805 Da~fo~y~o~,~'.og~.?.a~O~, Fax 952.447.4245 Mayor Haugen City of Prior Lake 16200 Eagle Creek Ave. SE Prior Lake, MN 55372 Connie Perrin 15534 Ridgemont Ave SE Prior Lake, MN 55372 April 4, 2005 Dear Mayor Haugen, May 5th will mark the 54th annual National Day of Prayer. The Prior Lake prayer service will once again be held at the Lakefront Pavilion from 7-8pm. As in past years, we are asking that the city officials issue a proclamation recognizing the importance of prayer and call upon the residents of Prior Lake, including the city officials, to participate. We would also like to extend an invitation to you to read the proclamation at that service. We hope that your schedule will allow you to attend. God has been faithful to Prior Lake in the past years. He has provided wisdom for our leadership when called upon. He has blessed the citizens with peace and prosperity, but there is still much to bring before God in prayer. We are 'urged to first of all pray, make requests, intercede, and give thanksgiving on behalf of everyone- for kings and all those in authority .... '(1 Timothy 2:1-2a). The theme this year is "God shed His grace on thee", based on Hebrews 4' 16. Prayer is our greatest hope---not just on one special day a year, but every day of our lives. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Connie Perrin 15534 Ridgemont Ave. Prior Lake, MN 55372 Home # 447-6441
