MEETING DATE: September 24, 2015
AGENDA #: 4.c.
PREPARED BY: Casey McCabe, Community Development Specialist
AGENDA ITEM:
EDA / EDAC MEETING FOLLOW-UP
DISCUSSION: Introduction
The purpose of this agenda item is to discuss the joint EDA / EDAC meeting and discuss any
follow-up or feedback the committee may wish to share with the EDA.
History
On August 17th EDAC members were invited to attend the EDA meeting for a joint discussion
of goals and to clarify the direction of the EDAC. Among the topics discussed included: i) the
EDA’s desired role or focus for the EDAC related to business attraction and/or business reten-
tion; ii) community marketing initiatives; iii) what role, if any, should the EDAC have in the Riv-
erSouth marketing campaign or implementation; iv) what involvement should the EDAC have,
if any, in First Stop Shop activities; v) the EDAC commercia l liaison program; and vi) the fall
Business Mixer event.
Current Circumstances
Chair Erbaugh has met with some members of the EDAC to gather feedback from this meeting
and has drafted a letter for EDAC review (attached). Mr. Erbaugh would like committee mem-
bers to discuss the content of the letter and provide direction related to the most effective way
to communicate the feedback to the EDA.
Conclusion
EDAC members should review and discuss the letter and provide direction to Mr. Erbaugh and
city staff.
ISSUES: Stacy Crakes, Business Development Manager with Scott County First Stop Shop FSS, also
provided follow-up information to EDAC members related to a question about how many Prior
Lake properties have been submitted as possible sites for leads received by FSS. EDAC mem-
bers should provide direction to staff if any additional information is desired from FSS.
