SECTION 4-7-1 OF THE PRIOR LAKE CITY CODE,
ARCHITEC~ DESIGN
MARCH 20, 1995
At the January 25, 1995, City Council Meeting, Staff was directed
to amend Section 4-7-1 of the Prior Lake City Code regarding
architectural compatibility.
The purpose of this ordinance is to require variation in housing
styles within the same neighborhood to avoid the "row House"
look. To a large degree, the ordinance defines aesthetics by
assuring that house styles are not so dissimilar that they are seen as

to simplify this ordinance to make its enforcement more
Simplification of this ordinance was achieved by adding the
following language:
1. Identical front elevations may be allowed on no more than
twenty-five (25) per cent of platted lots within a block.
However, identical front elevations shall not be allowed on
adjacent lots or in cul-de-sac turnarounds.
2. The provisions of this ordinance apply to PUD
developments but may be modified with the consent of the
City.
3. This ordinance applies only to single family homes.
Three (3) alternatives are available to the City Council:
1. The Council could adopt the proposed ordinance
amendment.
2. The Council could decide to maintain and enforce the
ordinance as is.
