PREPARED BY: Casey McCabe, Community Development Specialist AGENDA ITEM: EDAC 2015 ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND 2016 GOALS DISCUSSION: Introduction The City Council has invited all advisory committee members, including the EDAC, to a City Council work session on Monday, November 23rd at 5:00 p.m. The purpose of the work ses- sion is to allow all advisory committees an opportunity to present the City Council with a report of 2015 accomplishments and 2016 goals. The work session also provides an opportunity for advisory committees to hear accomplishments from other committees as well as what the other committees will be working on in 2016 to see if there are any collaboration opportunities. History The EDAC has previously provided a similar annual report to the City Council. The City Coun- cil has asked that all committees provide three accomplishments for 201 5 and three goals for 2016. Conclusion Staff has proposed 2015 accomplishments and 2016 goals for EDAC review and discussion. Members should discuss the accomplishments and goals below and amend or substitute ad- ditional items as desired. 2015 Accomplishments  The EDAC hosted the Prior Lake Business Mixer event as an opportunity for business leaders, property owner and developers to gather with local elected and appointed officials to share opportunities, express concerns or offer ideas to make Prior Lake a stronger business community.  The committee continued its business outreach strategy by establishing the EDAC Com- mercial Area Liaison Program which assigns an EDAC member to serve as another point of contact for any comments or questions community businesses leaders may have.  The EDAC continues to publish its quarterly Prior Lake Business Pages e-newsletter to over 400 recipients. The Prior Lake Business Pages shares commercial/industrial news, promotion of upcoming events, highlights new businesses, as well as provides residential, commercial and industrial development updates. 2016 Goals  Evaluate and respond to comments and ideas shared at the Business Mixer and use these suggestions to make recommendations to the EDA and City Council to make Prior Lake a stronger business community.  Utilize the EDAC Commercial Liaison Program to contact every Prior Lake business at least once during the year. 2  Expand the committee’s social media outreach to promote local business news and the positive steps being taken by the City of Prior Lake to strengthen commercial and indus- trial activity in the community. ISSUES: EDAC members should discuss what information should be included in the presentation and which member(s) of the committee are available to attend and present the information at the November 23rd meeting. The EDAC is limited to three accomplishments and three goals. The presentation at the work session will need to be no longer than ten minutes. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Motion and Second to approve the proposed EDAC 201 5 accomplishments and 2016 goals as proposed or further amended by the EDAC. RECOMMENDED MOTION: Alternative No. 1
