HomeMy WebLinkAbout5B Camps Massage Therapy License Report 4646 Dakota Street SE Prior Lake, MN 55372 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 9, 2015 AGENDA #: 5B PREPARED BY: JANET RINGBERG, ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST PRESENTED BY: FRANK BOYLES, CITY MANAGER AGENDA ITEM: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A MASSAGE THERAPY LICENSE FOR JAMIE CAMPS DISCUSSION: Introduction The purpose of this agenda item is to consider approval of a massage therapy li- cense for Jamie Camps History Massage therapists are required to be licensed in the City of Prior Lake if they are not working directly under a state licensed practitioner such as a physical thera- pists or a chiropractor. Current Circumstances Jamie Camps, 323 South 17th Avenue NE, Duluth, MN, has applied for a massage therapy license in order to practice massage therapy in Prior Lake. She is plan- ning to practice at W Social Fit, 16180 Hastings Avenue, Suite 100. Although Ms. Camps lives in Duluth she plans to come to Prior Lake several times a month to perform massage therapy at W Social Fit. Ms. Camps performs massage therapy specializing in fitness injuries. Ms. Camps has provided the city with the required proof of education and training. Her license will be valid until December 31, 2016, at which time it would be subject to renewal along with all other licensed massage therapists in Prior Lake. Conclusion The Prior Lake Police Department has completed its investigation of this applicant to ensure that all issues concerning public safety and compliance have been met. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Ms. Camps has paid the $100.00 investigation fee and the $100.00 annual li- cense fee. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Approve the massage therapy license request for Jamie Camps by adop- tion of the consent agenda. 2. Deny the license request. RECOMMENDED MOTION: Alternative #1.
