PRIOR LAKE CHAMBER OF COMME DONATION OF
$2,700.
JULY 17, 1995
AGENDA #:
PREPARED BY:
SUBJECT:
BACKGROUND: The City of Prior Lake agreed to provide three years of funding
assistance to the Chamber of Commerce of up to $10,000 per
year. The purpose of the funding was to allow the chamber to
hire a part time Executive Director in hopes that the Chamber
would become revitalized. The understanding of the
contribution was that it was "seed" money, and that over time
the Chamber would enhance its efforts to raise revenues in
order that the city's contribution could be lowered.
Consistent with this objective, the Chamber will be presenting
a check to the Mayor in the amount of $2700 which is money
generated from last year's Lakefront Days raffle. It is my
recommendation that the city use a portion of this money to
pay for the Biffs, tent rental, utilities and media advertising
associated with Lakefront Days. For last year's Lakefront
Days this would have totaled about $1800. This still leaves
$900 which the city can use for whatever purpose it desires.
It is the Chamber's hope that in the coming years the raffle
will generate additional funds to cover all costs of Lakefront
Days. At that point it may be possible to create a new
organization represented by each service club in the
comm unity w hose sole responsibility would be to plan,
organize, fund and supervise the Lakefront Days event. Kate
Haggerty and Kevin Von Bank will be present to make the
presentation to the City Council.
