CONSIDER APPROVAL OF ELECTION JUDGE APPOINTMENTS
FOR 1995 GENERAL ELECTION
OCTOBER 2,1995
The upcoming election on Tuesday, November 7, 1995 will consist of a
general citywide election for the following offices:
CITY
Two Council seats
SCHOOL BOARD
Two Board members
The General election will be a joint effort between the City and School
District, with City Staff coordinating the process. The City Council must
authorize the appointment of election judges to conduct the election day
activities.
A new polling location was approved earlier this year substituting Holy
Trinity Church instead of City Hall for Precinct #1. All registered voters
were notified by the Scott County Auditors Office of this change by the
issuance of new registration cards. This will be the second election
following the school referendum held this past week which should provide
further familiarity to the voters at this location. Although the local paper
mistakenly stated that City Hall was the polling location, because of the
close proximity of Holy Trinity it will be relatively easy to re-direct the
voters through signage.
The assigned polling places for the five precincts are located respectively
as follows along with their current registered voter count:

Total registered voter count is presently at 7,802. Each precinct will be
staffed with 4 election judges. Within the precincts, there is relative party
balance as required by election law.
The polls shall be open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. The judges will
report to their appropriate precinct location one hour prior to the polls
opening for set-up preparation. As in past years, the judges shall be paid
$5.00 per hour.
RECOMMENDATION: Attached is a list of election judges indicated by precinct. Staff has
contacted the judges and each has expressed interest in serving in this
year's elections. Staff would recommend appointment of those judges
submitted.
