The police department is two officers and 1 sergeant short in patrol. 3 new officers started on January 4th and are in training assigned with a senior officer. A relatively mild winter has helped to keep accidents down. We did have a couple significant accidents this month though, one of which resulted in a car fire and a trapped driver. Thankfully the responding officers, with the assistance of officers from Shakopee, Savage, and Scott County were able to keep the fire partially contained until the arrival of fire to extinguish the fire completely and extricate the driver. 5F
