HomeMy WebLinkAboutDisposal of Personal PropertyDISPOSAL OF PERSONAL PROPERTY Implemented October 2012 GENERAL PROVISIONS Sales of excess personal property Sales of excess personal property with an aggregate value less than $10,000 may utilize one of the following methods and shall be subject to ap proval by the City Manager. 1. Direct negotiation by obtaining two or more written quotations. 2. Solicitation of sealed bids. 3. Advertised sale. 4. Auctions or City garage sales. Sale of personal property 1. Sales of personal property with an aggregate value of $10,0 00 to $50,000 may utilize the same methods of disposition as set forth in Paragraph I provided such sale shall be approved by the City Council. 2. Sale of personal property with values of $50,000 or more shall required sealed bids to be solicited by public no tice in the manner and subject to the requirements of Minnesota Statutes Section 471.345 Uniform Municipal Contracting Law . Payment Payment shall be cash, money order or certified check. No other forms shall be acceptable. SPECIFIC PERSONAL PROPERTY PR OVISIONS City Vehicles Unless otherwise needed, when purchasing replacement vehicles, including utility trucks, the existing equipment may be traded in to reduce the initial acquisition cost and base for payment of sales tax. Computer Equipment Obsolete computer equipment not eligible for re - sale value may be recycled on a competitive cost basis of two or more quotes and approved by the City Manager. Sale of Unclaimed Property Unclaimed property which comes into the possession of the City shall be sold s ubject to the provisions outlined in subsection 110.700 of the Prior Lake City Code. Salvage Material Equipment to be junked or materials that would constitute scrap metal may be disposed of as salvage material and sold at the highest price quote received subject to Department Head approval.
