FIREARMS P OLICY A/ N OFFICER IS EQUIPPED WITH A FIREARM TO DEFEND HIMSELFHERSELF OR OTHERS ,.H, AGAINST DEADLY FORCE OR THE THREAT OF IMMINENT DEADLY FORCE OWEVER , WHEN A FIREARM IS USED BY AN OFFICER IT MUST BE WITH THE REALIZATION THAT .J THE DEATH OF SOME PERSON MAY OCCUR USTIFICATION FOR THE USE OF AN OFFICERS FIREARM IS LIMITED TO FACTS KNOWN TO THE OFFICER OR PERCEIVED BY /.F AN OFFICER AT THE TIME HESHE DECIDES TO SHOOT ACTS UNKNOWN TO THE OFFICER CANNOT BE CONSIDERED IN LATER DETERMINING JUSTIFICATION OF THE .T SHOOTING HE LAW AUTHORIZES AN OFFICER TO USE DEADLY FORCE WHEN IT / APPEARS NECESSARY TO PROTECT HIMSELFHERSELF OR OTHERS FROM WHAT REASONABLY APPEARS AN IMMEDIATE THREAT OF GREAT BODILY HARM OR IMMINENT .N PERIL OF DEATH O POLICY OF THIS DEPARTMENT SHALL LIMIT THAT LAW NOR BE / CONSTRUED AS PREVENTING AN OFFICER FROM DRAWING HISHER WEAPON OR BEING . PUBLIC VIEW O, FFICERS MAY CARRY ONE ADDITIONAL HANDGUN PROVIDED THAT IT IS CONCEALED IT , CONFORMS TO DEPARTMENT FIREARMS SPECIFICATIONS AND THE OFFICER IS CERTIFIED TO . CARRY THE FIREARM BY THE DEPARTMENTS FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR H-.U ANDGUNS SHALL BE CARRIED FULLY LOADED BY ONDUTY PERSONNEL NIFORMED ; OFFICERS SHALL CARRY A MINIMUM OF ONE LOADED SPARE MAGAZINE TWO IS . RECOMMENDED A UTHORIZED FIREARMS A- LL OFFICERS MUST CARRY ONE OF THE AUTHORIZED SEMIAUTOMATIC PISTOLS AS THEIR .A:A9MM,.40.45 PRIMARY HANDGUN N APPROVED FIREARM IS DEFINED AS FOLLOWS OR ,-B,,S-S,S& CALIBER DOUBLE ACTION SEMIAUTOMATIC ERETTA GLOCK IGAUER MITH W,CP.A ESSON OR OTHER BRAND AS APPROVED BY THE HIEF OF OLICE MINIMUM BARREL LENGTH OF THREE INCHES IS REQUIRED FOR A PRIMARY WEAPON WHILE WORKING IN . UNIFORM A MMUNITION OD. FFICERS SHALL ONLY CARRY EPARTMENT APPROVED AND ISSUED AMMUNITION A MMUNITION ISSUED FOR AN OFFICERS PRIMARY HANDGUN WILL BE REPLACED ANNUALLY D.T BY THE EPARTMENT HE COST OF AMMUNITION FOR AN OFFICERS SECOND HANDGUN . IT MUST BE A DEPARTMENT APPROVED WEAPON WITH WHICH THEY HAVE QUALIFIED TD- HE EPARTMENT PROHIBITS ANY OFFICER FROM CARRYING A HANDGUN OFFDUTY WHILE . USING OR UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS MF AINTENANCE OF IREARMS O(),. FFICERS SHALL MAINTAIN THEIR FIREARMS IN A CLEAN SERVICEABLE CONDITION TQ RAINING AND UALIFICATION TD, HE DESIGNATED EPARTMENT FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING IMPLEMENTING AND CONDUCTING FIREARMS TRAINING FOR ALL SWORN PERSONNEL IN THE . PROPER USE OF AUTHORIZED INDIVIDUAL AND DEPARTMENT OWNED FIREARMS A,, LL SWORN PERSONNEL ARE REQUIRED AS A TERM AND CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT TO “”.
