CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
MEETING DATE: April 11, 2016
AGENDA #: 6A
PREPARED BY: MARK ELLIOTT, POLICE CHIEF
PRESENTED BY: MARK ELLIOTT
AGENDA ITEM: PROMOTION TO POLICE SERGEANT
PRESENTATION: The police department has seen several retirements in the past year, one of
which was the retirement of long time Sergeant Greg Zollner. Over the past
few months an extensive testing process was used to select a new Sergeant
to replace him.
The position of Sergeant is a very important position in the police
department. Sergeants are the first line supervisors responsible for
overseeing the patrol operations around the clock. They offer direction to
the officers and act as a resource to coach, train, direct, and assist the
officers with their work. They are an important part of the city management
team in implementing policy and directing service delivery.
Officer Darcy White finished as the top candidate and was promoted to the
rank of Sergeant on April 4th. This agenda item is to recognize Sergeant
White for her accomplishment.
Sergeant White has been with the Prior Lake Police Department for 15 years
and has worked as a patrol officer, tribal liaison officer, interim school
resource officer and detective. Prior to joining the Prior Lake team she was
a New Mexico State Trooper for over 7 years.
Chief Elliott will call Sergeant White up to the podium with him and introduce
her and say a few words.
Council members are welcome to offer the sergeant their best wishes as part
of this agenda item.
