JANET RINGBERG, LICENSE CLERK
CONSIDER APPROVAL OF TEMPORARY ON-SALE
INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR PRIOR LAKE
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR LAKE FRONT DAYS
Current Circumstances
The Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce is requesting a temporary on-
sale intoxicating liquor license in order to sell 3.2 beer and to hold a
wine tasting during Lakefront Days. This is the second year the
Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a wine tasting. This year it will
be held on Tuesday, August 2nd. The state requires a temporary on-
sale intoxicating license rather than a 3.2 liquor license for a wine
tasting. This license will be valid from Tuesday, August 2, 2005 until
Saturday, August 6, 2005.
The Issues
Dram shop insurance will be carried through United States Liability
Insurance Group. The Prior Lake Police Department has found no
reason to deny the application. The Chamber of Commerce will pay to
have a security officer present at the tent on all days of the event.
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Adopt a motion as part of the consent agenda approving the
temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license for the Prior Lake
Chamber of Commerce.
2. Deny the temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license request.
Staff recommends Council approve the temporary on-sale intoxicating
liquor license for the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce for the period
of August 2,2005 through August 6, 2005.
