The recent vote of the Prior Lake City Council will close access to Commerce Av at County Road 42. P The City Council's actions went against the recommendations of the City Engineers and the Prior Lake Economic Development Authority. This action forces all traffic on the frontage road to a single access point on Highway 13. The way this intersection is designed, it will only support 3-4 vehicles stacked in each lane at the stoplight. This will cause other vehicles to back up at the stop signs until enough room is available for them to turn into the stop light area while yielding to all incoming traffic from Highway 13. Drivers unwilling to wait for the light may choose to drive through the neighborhood to reach County Road 42 via the Rutgers stoplight; which poses the potential for a significant increase in traffic through the neighborhood. We believe Concept 3,which was recommended by the City Engineers and the Prior Lake Economic Development Authority,to be the best compromise for both businesses and residents. This concept will not bring additional traffic into the neighborhoods, because it creates a frontage road to the stoplight at Rutgers and County Road 42. The City Council's actions went against the recommendations of the City Engineers and the Prior Cake Economic Development Authority. This action forces all traffic on the frontage road to a single access point on Highway 13. The way this intersection is designed, it will only support 3-4 vehicles stacked in each lane at the stoplight. This will cause other vehicles to back up at the stop signs until enough room is available for them to turn into the stop light area while yielding to all incoming traffic from Highway 13. I Drivers unwilling to wait for the light may choose to drive through the neighborhood to reach County I Road 42 via the Rutgers stoplight;which poses the potential for a significant increase in traffic through the neighborhood. We believe Concept 3,which was recommended by the City Engineers and the Prior Lake Economic Development Authority,to be the best compromise for both businesses and residents.
