CONSIDER APPROVAL OF TEMPORARY 3.2 MALT
LIQUOR LICENSE FOR PRIOR LAKE VFW POST 6208
Current Circumstances
The Prior Lake VFW Post #6208 is requesting a temporary 3.2 malt
liquor license in order to serve 3.2 beer at a membership picnic to be
held at Memorial Park on Sunday August 14,2005 from 12 p.m. until
5 :00 p.m. The Prior Lake VFW currently has a club license which
allows them to sell liquor at their club located at 16306 Main Avenue
SE. State statute requires them to get a temporary 3.2 malt liquor
license in order to serve 3.2 beer in a location other than that for which
they are currently licensed.
The Issues
Liquor liability insurance is be carried through Westport Insurance
Corp. The Prior Lake Police Department has found no reason to deny
the application. The Prior Lake VFW has paid the $25.00 license fee.
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Adopt a motion as part of the consent agenda approving the
temporary 3.2 malt liquor license for the Prior Lake VFW Post
6208.
2. Deny the temporary 3.2 malt liquor license request.
Staff recommends Council approve the temporary 3.2 malt liquor
license for the Prior Lake VFW Post 6208 for the period of August 14,
2005.
