CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 28, 2016
AGENDA #: 6A
PREPARED BY: FRANK BOYLES, CITY MANAGER
PRESENTED BY: FRANK BOYLES
AGENDA ITEM: PRESENTATIONS TO RETIRING COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE
MEMBERS
DISCUSSION: Introduction
The purpose of this agenda item is to recognize those commission and
committee members who have donated their personal time on behalf of the
community.
History
The City of Prior Lake has relied heavily on the participation of citizens to complete the
ongoing work of municipal government. Advisory committees have been formed to make
recommendations to the City Council and the Economic Development Authority in the
following areas:
Communications/Technology
Community Safety
Economic Development
Technology Village
Lakes
Parks
Planning
Traffic Safety
Most committees have a monthly meeting schedule. Committees and their
members perform in accordance with objectives and bylaws which are annually
reviewed and approved. Members may serve up to nine years or three, three
year terms.
Current Circumstances
Each year some committee members decide to retire, come to the end of a
term or reach their term limit. For those individuals, we host an all committee
dinner as occurred earlier this evening.
At tonight’s City Council meeting we would like to recognize outgoing
committee members by conveying to them either a Certificate of Recognition
(less than nine years of service) or a sailboat plaque for those who served a
full nine-year term limit.
The persons to be recognized tonight are as follows:
2
Certificates:
Brett Anderson: Communications / Technology from 2010-2016
Michelle Choudek: EDA from 2011-2016
Wade Larson: Planning Commission from 2013-2016
Dan Shower: Lakes from 2014-2016
Plaques:
Kendall Larson: Parks from 2007-2016
Kelly Loose: Parks from 2007-2016
Conclusion
Prior Lake is very fortunate to have persons who generously give their time for
the betterment of their community. Their contributions make Prior Lake the
best it can be. Tonight, we celebrate these citizens and all the current
members of our advisory committees devote to make the city better.
The Mayor will present the certificates and plaque to those board or
commission members in attendance at the meeting.
