The incident case reports listed are just a sampling of the 24 crime index categories included in the Uniform
Crime Report and therefore the totals of the selected categories will not add up to the total number of
incidents shown on the last line above.
In August the PLPD went to a new CAD and RMS system, as did the rest of the county. The system tracks
many more police activities and calls than the previous system. As a result, the monthly calls in some
categories and total calls are up significantly, mainly due to accounting for officers’ activity that was not
accounted for before. We will try to extract these changes as we can best identify them in order to better
provide a “last year to this year” comparison at the end of the year, it is my estimate that total incidents
are up about 8% factoring in that comparison.
