As explained previously, the Police Department went to a new records system in July 2016 and statistical categories are tracked differently than before. In order to provide a closer comparison to last year, traffic stops are included in the total incidents. Previously they were not in the old RMS system, or in this report. *The category of Disorderly Conduct/ Disturbing the Peace is also categorized differently in the new system with subcategories also included whereas previously they were not. For that reason, the percent increase is not shown. **Also new for 2017 on the monthly statistics are the categories of Medicals, and Mental Health calls. This was information requested by the City Council to be added to the report. 5G Burglary calls are up significantly over last April and year to date. Many of these burglaries have occurred when access was gained through unlocked or open doors. Some have been forced entry as well. New this month are “heat maps” as requested by council, and now we are able to provide them through the new RMS system and additional crime mapping software. Additional public access to crime maps will be rolled out in the coming months as well.
