As explained previously, the Police Department went to a new records system in July 2016 and statistical categories are tracked differently than before. In order to provide a closer comparison to last year, traffic stops are included in the total incidents. Previously they were not in the old RMS system, or in this report. *The category of Disorderly Conduct/ Disturbing the Peace is also categorized differently in the new system with subcategories also included whereas previously they were not. For that reason, the percent increase is not shown. **Also new for 2017 on the monthly statistics are the categories of Medicals, and Mental Health calls. This was information requested by the City Council to be added to the report. 5F Traffic stops in May are down significantly over last year; this is in part due to last year’s additional TZD shifts in May and additional stops associated with those grant funded overtime details targeting traffic violations. This year’s TZD had less hours and also extended to June 4th. New last month were “heat maps” as requested by council, and now we are able to provide them through the new RMS system and additional crime mapping software. Additional public access to crime maps will be rolled out in June. Links to the crime maps will be provided on the police department webpage and we will be doing extensive marketing of the tool available on www. ommunitycrimemap.com All Calls for service 5F Part I Crimes murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, larceny-theft, and arson) Traffic and DUI
