The intent is to accurately convey which staff and city council members are to serve as liaisons (and in some cases members of) to various bodies. History At the first meeting of each year the mayor recommends and the city council confirms appointments to various bodies or as liaisons to the bodies. This year things have occurred which have now rendered the list prepared in January, 2017 inaccurate. Staff members have left the city employment. City councilors have found that their current schedules have conflicts which they were unaware of at the beginning of the year. Three committees have been disbanded a one new one created. One committee has been renamed. It is therefore desirable to update the list so it is more accurate for the remainder of the year. Current Circumstances Staff members who are shown on the January listing and who are no longer here include Dan Rogness, Katie Gehler, Don Uram and Larry Poppler. The revised listing shows their successors in the respective positions. The Parks Advisory, Lakes Advisory and Communication/Technology Committees have been discontinued. The Citizen Engagement Committee has been added. The Economic Development Advisory Committee has been renamed the Business Engagement Committee by the EDA. In a few cases city councilors, have found difficult to attend certain meetings that they thought they would be able to early in the year. ISSUES: Under the city council bylaws this agenda item is normally handled as a non- consent item during the first meeting of the year. Since most of the changes are housekeeping in nature and considering the potential length in tonight’s meeting agenda, I have included this item under the consent agenda. The council should feel free to remove it from consent if discussion is desired. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None ALTERNATIVES: 1. Motion and second as part of the consent agenda to approve the Liaison List dated September 18, 2017. 2. Motion and second to remove this item from the consent agenda for further discussion.
