CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FULL
AND FINAL PAYMENT TO MARK J. TRAUT WELLS, INC. FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF THE TEST WELL FOR WELLS #8 & 9, CITY
PROJECT NUMBER 05-02
I ntrod uction
The purpose of this agenda item is to authorize full and final payment to
Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc. for the construction of the test well for Wells #8
& 9, City Project Number 05-02.
History
Staff has been working with the DNR and our consultants to develop a
plan on future well locations to provide the required additional water for
our continued growth. We are proposing that a new Jordan aquifer well
(No.8) and a Franconia, Ironton, Galesville (FIG) aquifer well (No.9) be
located adjacent to the Maintenance Center. At the March th Council
meeting, Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc. was awarded the contract to construct
the test well and analyze the production of the aquifers in this location.
Current Circumstances
The full and final payment is in the amount of $59,444.50. This is
$4,693.50 below the original bid amount. All testing information and
data has been submitted as required by the plans and specifications.
The estimate for the test well was $60,000. The original contract
amount was $64,138.00. The final payment amount is $59,444.50,
$4,693.50 below the contract amount.
The alternatives for the City Council to consider are as follows:
1. Approve a resolution authorizing full and final payment to Mark J.
Traut Wells, Inc. for the construction of the test well for Wells 8 & 9.
2. Table this agenda item for a specific reason.
3. Deny this agenda item and provide staff with direction.
Staff recommends adoption of Alternative NO.1.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FULL AND FINAL PAYMENT TO MARK
J. TRAUT WELLS, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE TEST WELL
FOR WELLS #8 & 9, CITY PROJECT NUMBER 05-02

Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc. of Waite Park, Minnesota was awarded the contract
for the construction of a test well for Wells 8 & 9, City Project 05-02 in the
amount of $64,138.00, and;
The full and final payment is in the amount of $59,444.50, $4,693.50 below the
contract amount, and;
Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc. has in all respects completed the contract for the
Construction of the Test Well; and
The Public Works Director recommends acceptance of the project and Final
Payment of the contract.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA
that:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. Full and final payment is hereby authorized to be made to Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc.
in the amount of $59,444.50 for the Construction of a Test Well for Wells 8 & 9, City
Project 05-02.
