INTRODUCTION OF NEW PLANNER JEFFREY MATZKE
PRESENTATION:
As part of the 2005 budget, the City Council directed that a new planner position be added to
meet the increasing demands of development on the Planning Department. This position was
delayed until August in order to determine the impact any action by the State Legislature would
ultimately have upon the City's 2005 budget.
In August 2005, we proceeded with the hire. The position was advertised and interviews and a
skill evaluation conducted. Finally, Jeffrey Matzke was offered and accepted the position. His
start date was September 1st,
Jeff is originally from southern Illinois and comes to us via Cleveland, Ohio where he worked in
the Planning, Design and Natural Resources division of Cleveland Metroparks as an Asst. Real
Estate Manager. He has a SA in Geography and received his Masters in Urban Planning in
May of this year.
On a personal note, Jeff was recently married and relocated to Minnesota. He and his wife live
in Chanhassen. He is a sports enthusiast, playing basketball and baseball in college. He is
however, a St. Louis Cardinals fan, but nobody's perfect.....and he assures me his wife roots for
the Twins.
We are very encouraged by addition of Jeff to our Prior Lake team, and believe he will bring
enthusiasm, dedication, and great customer service skills to the position.
