As explained previously, the Police Department went to a new records system in July 2016 and statistical categories are tracked differently than before. In order to provide a closer comparison to last year, traffic stops are included in the total incidents. Previously they were not in the old RMS system, or in this report. *The category of Disorderly Conduct/ Disturbing the Peace is also categorized differently in the new system with subcategories also included whereas previously they were not. For that reason, the percent increase year to date is not shown. **Also new for 2017 on the monthly statistics are the categories of Medicals, and Mental Health calls. This was information requested by the City Council to be added to the report. 5B New as of April, were “heat maps” as requested by council, and now we are able to provide them through the new RMS system and additional crime mapping software. Additionally, public access to crime maps was rolled out in June. Links to the crime maps are provided on the police department webpage and this summer we did extensive marketing of the tool available on www.communitycrimemap.com All Calls for service 5B Part I Crimes (murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, larceny-theft, and arson) Traffic and DUI
