SOCCER CLUB
The Prior Lake Soccer crub (plsc) is a non-profit estabrished in 1976. our mission isto promote an environment of whole player development through the sport of soccer.

Savage - Utilized up to 6 fields at 5 parks (Community, Heatherton, Woodhill, O,Connell,
Schroeder's), plus dome during winter months.
lsD 719 - utilized up to 5 fierds at 3 rocations (HS, ToMS, Redtair), prus HS gyms during winter
months.
Annually pay for fierd striping and make investments in fierd improvements (goars, netting, fencing, irrigation etc.) in partnership with cities and school district.
Growth:
The PLSC youth programs (ages 4-17) have grown by about 40% since 2005.
The primary short term issue for the PLSC in Prior Lake is existing facility parking capacity for our popular
recreational and academy programs. Long term, even with parking improvements and field use
maximization, we will outgrow these facilities as area growth continues and demand for our services
increases.
ln the short term, a workgroup consisting of staff from the youth athletic associations (PLSC, pLAy), cities
(Prior Lake, Savage, Burnsville) and school districts {719, 191) have convened to look at how to maximize
the use of current fieldsfacilitles prior to investing in additional facilities.
Long term, the City's 2030 Comprehensive Plan, and Vision and Strategic Plan updates have consistently
identified the value of the park system and that a mix of active and passive parks with a trail system
connecting those parks and major destinations. They have also identified a balance of individual and
organized sports. Based on projected growth and demand, those documents identify a future
soccer/lacrosse complex near Spring Lake Regional Park as being needed.

* Are we at a point where we 1) Limit to a maximum number - yet workable with facilities
2) Go with the if it is a new sport or interest - "Don't Do lt!"
3) Have sports break off or start up on their own and have more contacts with interaction
Change is here - whether we want to embrace it or not is the question.
