RESOLUTION 18-134
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE PAY RANGE FOR THE CITY MANAGER POSITION,
APPROVAL OF THE CITY MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION, AND DIRECTION TO POST THE
POSITION FOR RECRUITMENT
Motion By: Burkart Second By: Braid
WHEREAS, The city manager position will be vacated as of March 2, 2019 due to the retirement
of the current city manager; and
WHEREAS, The city manager is the only position the city council appoints and the only person
the city council supervises; and
WHEREAS,
The city manager is the city’s top executive and is responsible for the annual
budget and management oversight of all city departments and services; and
WHEREAS, On August 6, 2018, the city council authorized DDA Human Resources, Inc.
through a standardized professional services contract to conduct the executive
search for this position; and
WHEREAS, A competitive salary based on market comparables are necessary to attract the
most qualified candidates;
WHEREAS, The annual salary range recommendation for this position is $129,000 - $165,000;
and
WHEREAS,
The job description has been reviewed and updated with input from city councilors,
staff and advisory board chairs; and
WHEREAS, The position should be posted immediately to allow adequate time to find the best
candidate for the position to be in place by February 2019.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE,
MINNESOTA as follows:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. The pay range of $129,000 - $165,000 for the city manager position is hereby established.
3. The job description as drafted is hereby approved.
4. Staff is directed to post the position to begin the recruitment process for the new city
manager.
