Investiture Ceremony for Officer Steinhaus, Hageman, Jensen, Lewis
GOAL AREA AND
OBJECTIVE:
High-Value City Services
4. Attract, retain and train a high caliber workforce to ensure high-quality services.
PRESENTATION: The City Council has a tradition of formally swearing in the new police officers who
are joining the city department. Tonight, Mayor Briggs will swear in Cody
Steinhaus, DJ Hageman, Martin Jensen and Hunter Lewis as our newest Prior
Lake police officers.
Interim Police Chief Hodges will introduce each officer, then the Mayor will
administer the Oath. After administering the oath, the Mayor will then recess the
meeting temporarily to allow time for pictures and congratulations.
Officer Cody Steinhaus has been employed as a part-time Community Service
Officer (CSO) with the City of Prior Lake for the last ten months. Before starting as
a CSO Steinhaus was a Security Forces Member in the Minnesota Air National
Guard and remains a Staff Sergeant. Steinhaus has completed his Law
Enforcement bachelor degree from Metropolitan State University. Steinhaus grew
up in Prior Lake and enjoys being outside, hunting and spending time with his
family, friends and two dogs.
Officer DJ Hageman has most recently worked as a Deputy Sheriff with the Wright
County Sheriffs Office before that he worked as a Infantry Soldier-Sergeant with
the Army National Guard. Hageman has an associates degree in Criminal Justice
and an associates degree in Law Enforcement. Hageman was born in Maplewood
and has been married for three years with a baby on the way. He enjoys watching
football and playing football and basketball.
Officer Martin Jensen was in the Army National Guard where he was a Specialist
in the infantry. Jensen has an associates degree in Law Enforcement from
Alexandria Technical and Community College. Martin has worked at Marshall PD
for about two years. He grew up in Bloomington and likes hunting, working out and
spending time with his family and friends.
Officer Hunter Lewis was most recently working as a Deputy Sheriff at the Logan
County Sheriffs Department for the last three and a half years in North Dakota.
Lewis holds an associates degree and completed skills from Vermilion Community
College. He grew up in Savage and p
played football and graduated with the Prior Lake High School. Lewis likes to go
hunting and fishing.
Three of the officers are filling current and upcoming vacancies in the police
department then one officer is filling a new 2019 position.
Council members are welcome to offer the officers their best wishes as part of this
agenda item.

These staff positions are included in the 2019 budget.
