HomeMy WebLinkAbout03 28 2019 BEC minutes 1 4646 Dakota Street SE Prior Lake, MN 55372 CITY OF PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES – March 28, 2019 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:35 a.m. in the Wagon Bridge Conference Room at Prior Lake City Hall. Members present: Kim Prchal, Tom Driscoll, Thane Tande, Wade Larson, Stephanie Carroll, Jeff Petschl, and Sandi Fleck. EDA Liaison Annie Sheehan-Kerber. Staff present: Casey McCabe and Amanda Schwabe. 2. Approval of Meeting Minutes a. February 28, 2019 MOTION BY PETSCHL and SECOND BY PRCHAL to approve the February 28, 2019 meeting minutes. Motion adopted unanimously. . 3. Old Business a. Construction Communication Event Schwabe shared that the first Construction Communication event will be held on April 11, 2019 from 4-6pm at Fong’s. Attendance is encouraged. b. Construction Customer Attraction Assistance Update Schwabe provided an update on the subcommittee efforts including finalization of the #PLWorthIt logo and images. She explained that there are over 120 events planned during the remainder of 2019 in an effort to bring people to Downtown and South Lake Village area. 4. New Business a. BEC Commercial Area Liaison Visits MCCABE shared that additional information will be available following the Open House and recommended the liaisons visit their respective commercial areas in late April/early May. He stated that a liaison is needed for the Village Commerce / South Lake Village area. DRISCOLL volunteered to be the liaison for the Village Commerce / South Lake Village area. 5. Other Business a. EDA Meeting Update MCCABE summarized the topics from the EDA meeting held on March 11, 2019. SCHWABE shared that staff is still working with representatives of the Midwest Vintage Snowmobile Show (MVSS) regarding relocation. Staff has invited the group to Prior Lake to hear a proposal for how the City in conjunction with the SMSC can accommodate this event. b. Residential and Commercial Activity Update MCCABE provided an overview of the residential and commercial building permit activity as of February 28, 2019. c. Staff Update None. d. Member Ideas/Recommendations CARROLL questioned if there was an update on the Revere Way / County Road 21 intersection stu dy. MCCABE shared that the study is underway . 6. Next Meeting Date. The next regular meeting of the BEC will be on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. 7. Adjourn. MOTION BY PETSCHL and SECOND BY TANDE to adjourn the meeting. Motion adopted unanimously.
