Electronic Scoreboard Installation at Ponds Athletic Complex GOAL AREA AND OBJECTIVE: High-Value City Services 5. Grow collaborations to provide efficient and cost-effective services to the community. DISCUSSION: Introduction The purpose of this agenda item is to consider approval of an agreement for the donation, installation and maintenance of scoreboards between the City of Prior Lake and P.L.A.Y. at Ponds baseball fields 1 through 6. During the summer of this year, Randy Geister, Director of P.L.A.Y., informed Greg Skluzacek, Parks Foreman, that P.L.A.Y. would like to purchase and install electronic scoreboards at the Ponds Athletic Complex for baseball fields 1 through 6. Staff and P.L.A.Y. have worked together to develop expectations for the installation, maintenance and use of the scoreboards. History The P.L.A.Y. Executive Board has given approval of funding of electronic scoreboards at Ponds. The scoreboards will be available for all users. These score boards will help keep the athletic complex updated and competitive with surrounding community fields. Current Circumstances Staff has worked with the City Attorney to develop the attached agreement. Parts of this project will need to get prepped this fall, such as the electrical and possibly the brackets, in order for the boards to be placed, with final set up in the spring. The goal is for the scoreboards to be available for the first weekend in May softball tournament. FINANCIAL IMPACT: P.L.A.Y. will fund the entire project and be responsible for all maintenance on the scoreboards. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Motion and second as part of the consent to adopt the resolution to approve the agreement between the City of Prior Lake and P.L.A.Y. 2. Motion and second to remove the item from the consent agenda for additional discussion. DAKTRONICS BA-2718 PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS TIME CLOCK The two-digit clock can display hours/minutes/seconds. Clock information shifts from hours to minutes to seconds as time counts down. MOUNTING Scoreboard is typically mounted on two vertical beams or poles. Hardware to mount scoreboard on two beams is included; hardware for more beams is at additional cost. Standard mounting uses I-beam clamps. Optional mounting method using angle brackets is also offered; maximum beam width is 10" (254 mm) and maximum beam depth is 13" (330 mm). GENERAL INFORMATION Scoreboard provides scoring capabilities for two teams. 100% solid state electronics are housed in an all aluminum cabinet. Scoreboard is shipped in one section. Scoreboard power is to be provided on a dedicated circuit to prevent loss of game information due to failure of another component on the circuit.
