Adjourn 1 4646 Dakota Street SE Prior Lake, MN 55372 CITY OF PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES – October 24, 2019 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:37 a.m. in the Wagon Bridge Conference Room at Prior Lake City Hall. Members present: Kim Prchal, Stephanie Carroll, Tom Driscoll, Thane Tande, Bella Drewes, and Jim Speiker II. EDA Liaisons Marie Boucher-Hoese and Annie Sheehan-Kerber. Staff present: Casey McCabe and Amanda Schwabe. 2. Approval of Meeting Minutes a. September 26, 2019 MOTION BY PRCHAL and SECOND BY TANDE to approve the September 26, 2019 meeting minutes. Motion adopted unanimously. 3. Old Business a. New EDA members in attendance introduced themselves. New member terms are effective Nov. 1st. 4. New Business a. BEC 2019 Accomplishments & 2020 Goals MCCABE provided an overview of the 2019 accomplishments and proposed 2020 goals. This information will be presented to the City Council at their November 18th meeting. Accomplishments: • #PLWorthIt communication efforts to businesses during construction • Economic Development Website creation and launch • Guide to Development Process Development • Continued liaison program development Proposed 2020 Goals: • Continue to work with Chamber re: communication during construction • Continued liaison program development • Plan/Organize a Business Mixer Event CARROLL suggested partnering with Bolten & Menk for the 2020 business mixer event. SHEEHAN-KERBER recommended including testimonials from business owners as part of the event. CARROLL stated she would like to incorporate a goal for 2020 to support the EDA on the PL Wish book project. PRCHAL and CARROLL volunteered to attend the meeting on November 18th to represent the EDA. MCCABE stated that all members are invited to attend. RSVP’s are requested. MOTION BY TANDE SECONDED BY CARROLL to approve the 2019 accomplishments and 2020 goals with the addition of supporting the EDA on the PL Wish Book project. Motion unanimously approved. 5. Other Business a. EDA Meeting Update MCCABE provided an overview of the October 14 EDA meeting including: • A presentation by Sheila Smith, Executive Director for the MN Citizens for the Arts group. • The EDA voted to reappoint Jeff Petschl and appoint Bella Drewes, Jim Speiker II and Christopher Smith to the BEC effective November 1st. • Discussion of the PL Wish Book and recommended the list of items be reduced and provided additional direction to staff. • Scott County Economic Development Incentive Grant Program. He stated that staff has been in conversation with the brokers of the large available tracks. • Final mural concept was approved by the EDA and Nuvera. Discussion followed. b. Residential and Commercial Activity Update MCCABE provided an overview of the building permits issued through September 30, 2019. c. Staff Update i. BEC Member Appointment The EDA voted to reappoint Jeff Petschl and appoint Bella Drewes, Jim Speiker II and Christopher Smith to the BEC effective November 1st. ii. 13-21 Construction d. Member Ideas/Recommendations Sheehan-Kerber asked who the downtown liaison is and shared feedback from a downtown business re: recent water shut-offs and non-city event which incorporated a road closure. PRCHAL requested contact information for the building owner and will reach out to see if 6. Next Meeting Date.
