Each year, in accordance with the law, we make an effort to provide for a balance between the
various political parties in our election judge appointments. This can be complicated both by the
political composition of the community as well as the political bent of the persons volunteering to
judge.
The resolution does not designate the precinct for any judge so that in the event of election
judge cancellations, the City may reassign judges to a different precinct in order to maintain
party representation to the extent possible.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Judges are paid $11.00, and head judges are paid $14.00 per hour as approved within this
year’s operating budget. Judges work approximately 16 hours each on each election day.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Motion and second to adopt a resolution appointing election judges for the March 3,
2020 Presidential Nomiating Primary as a part of the consent agenda.
2. Motion and second to remove from the consent agenda for discussion.
