HomeMy WebLinkAboutAPR 2020_MinutesCEC Committee Meeting Minutes April 16, 2020 Present: Sarah Watters, Patrick Heaney, Marcia Diers, Annette Thompson, , Jessica Weber, Kim Churchill, Lori Olson, Dave Elbon, Jason Wedel Excused: Unexcused: Brad McCarter, Dick Felch Andrea Nelson Next Meeting: May 21, 4:45 p.m., City Hall I Welcome & Introductions Meeting was held via Zoom II Jason Wedel Update on City Operations During COVID-19 Jason explained how the City is operation during these tough times. Sara asked how the police are treating groups of people. They are asking them to leave the park as necessary. The fire department has been experimenting with duty crews during the day. That will be suspended as there really has not been a shift in call volume as was expected with people staying home. Public Works has been checking lift stations more frequently as people put items in the toilet that tend to clog the system. Public works is working with a skeleton crew. Building inspections are still working but are not going into houses when possible. They are mostly doing new construction. Utility Billing is still working on a limited basis. Dock installers have been permitted to work. Jason asked if everyone felt there has been enough communications. Sarah felt inundated with information in general and feels the Newswire is plenty. Meetings are now being live streamed on the city website. No seasonal employees will be hired so some services will be reduced like flowers downtown. Parks will still be mowed. There are conversations about closing recreation summer events, but the community garden will remain open. Jason updates the City Council daily, but they have not had to take any formal action. Lori mention that they have not been hearing why you aren’t laying off people. It could cost more to layoff an employee. We did furlough Lesley Young Pat asked about the VFW. That is still on schedule, but staff will visit the predevelopment agreement with the Beard Group. Annette was curious if calls were up? Call volume is up 8% with many more domestics. The severity of call is less with Mystic Lake closed. CEC Committee Meeting Minutes, April 16, 2020 Page 2 II. 13/21 Update Jason said that work was able to begin a month early thanks to favorable weather and that is helping keep the project on time. Highway 13 south to Dakota will open soon. The Arcadia/21 intersection will close for three weeks but Main Street will remain open. They still expect to open mid-July. CEC Committee Impromptu Website Design Conference Call April 29, 2020 Present: Marcia Diers, Annette Thompson, Jessica Weber, Dick Felch, Kim Churchill, Lori Olson, Dave Elbon Taylor Yach (website consultant) Next Meeting: May 21, 4:45 p.m., City Hall I Welcome & Introductions Meeting was held via conference call with Taylor Yach from Granicus II Choosing the Look of the Search Box, Hero Caption Box and Call to Action Buttons Lori gave a brief update on the progress staff has made with the wire frame. Taylor explained what the wire frame is and the different components of the current wire frame. Staff was unable to agree on three components and was looking for guidance from the committee. A. Should the call to action buttons contain icons? Committee voted for icons B. Should there be a search box or just an icon? Committee voted for a search box C. Should the hero caption box be transparent over the picture or below? Committee voted for it to be below the picture
