Solvent weld joints in PVC pipe must include use of a primer which is of contrasting color to the pipe and cement (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715 . 08 10, subpart 2). 8 . Above-grade horizontal plumbing piping must be supported as follows (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715 . 1430, subpart 4) : a. Plastic pipe : at least every 32 inches . b . Cast iron. at least every 5 feet; or 10 feet when ten foot lengths of pipe are used. Go Copper tubing ( 11/4 inch- or less) : at least every 6 feet. 9 .
