CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 3:32 p.m. In attendance were Erin Belanger Braid, Cassandra Bryant, Shan- non Hoffmann, Alejandra Pelinka, Community Development Director Casey McCabe, ACC Consultant Brenda Kayzar with Urbane DrK Consulting, and EDA Liaison Marie Boucher-Hoese 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA a. Two items were added to the agenda i. Discuss having a mission statement to agenda ii. Add funding opportunities 3. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES a. Group approved minutes from the November and December meetings. 4. PRESENTATIONS a. No presentations for this meeting 5. OLD BUSINESS a. No old business on the agenda for this meeting 6. NEW BUSINESS A. Identify guests for future meetings for discussion or presentation on topics a. Kathy – History & Optimist committee, maybe April if we do a walking tour b. Andrea, Pleasant Street Art Walk Owner – how she puts it together, funds it, promotes it – Marie to reach out to see about March c. Springboard for the Arts – art train, training program for cities on how to do public art and funding, engagement with community – Ale to reach out d. Forecast (Public Art) – Jenn Cava. Training for public art - Ale to reach out e. Parks Department and their initiatives – Possible for February meeting, city just hired new parks manager, Casey to reach out to see if they can speak at February meeting f. Other cities – Lakeville, Hastings, Eagan, Hopkins, Red Wing, Lanesboro, St Louis Park, Shakopee i. What cities is Prior Lake most similar to? ii. Brenda to reach out to Hastings and St Louis Park iii. Erin to reach out to Shakopee and Lakeville iv. Ale to reach out to Hopkins g. SMSC – community engagement committee (October 20 @ 3pm). Could Arts and Culture Com- mittee be invited to tour this exhibit/initiative? h. Thursday Night Farmers Market (Smoke Signals) – Tractor Supply – Cassie to reach out i. Prior Lake Rotary and Chamber j. Possibility to add something about Arts & Culture to the goodie bags at Neighborhood Night Out or do something during the Candy Crawl k. Safety concerns or health concerns in PL – how can art help communicate that? B. Review list of existing public art and arts organizations in the community a. Group reviewed list and added to it. Cassie to make edits b. Idea for community engagement: Where do you see art in your community? Send us a picture and post on social media c. ABC of art idea d. Pushing arts organizations to next meeting e. Repurposing parks to house other activities, gardens, etc – things for each generation C. Downtown redevelopment project update; public art opportunities a. Possible new living complex with restaurant and rooftop seating (confidential) b. Pleasant Street and Colorado street reconstruction starting Spring 2022 i. Need to reach out for poetry submissions for sidewalk stamping – Casey to find out pro- cess for getting this approved ii. Poetry stamping, better benches, bike rack art 1. Eagan has artistic bench options in their city iii. Possible stipends for winners or reception c. Opportunity for art during construction phase and completion phase D. Funding Opportunities a. Feb 13 deadline, provides small art grants, artist to partner with a neighborhood (Cura) b. Creative Economy Revitalization Act. House Bill 5019. – if it passes, there could be some potential funding for the future c. National Endowment for the Arts Our Town Grant. Partnership with cultural arts organization and the city. Application is once a year in August d. Art Community Challenge Grant – focus on building walkable communities e.
