Dear Mr. Leek,
Per our phone conversation of this afternoon, enclosed is the information you requested
on sign criteria, building elevations and a site plan for our property located at 14161 -73
Commerce Avenue NE.
The original sign criteria for the building is as follows :
- 1 . Tenant shall place a cabinet style sign 29 inches high by 8 feet long (24 foot
long for PDQ), bronze brown in color. Cabinet shall be placed on front fascia of building .
2 . Cabinet shall have a pan face .
3 . Size, style and color of lettering shall be Tenant' s choice .
4. Tenant must obtain Landlord ' s written consent before any sign is placed on the
building . Prior to manufacture, the sign company shall submit detailed scale drawings to
Landlord for Landlord ' s written consent.
As I understand it, the new City sign ordinance will allow more sign area for each tenant.
I would not object to the increase in length of the signs provided that they meet the City
ordinance and that any new sign does not adversely impact an adjoining tenant' s existing
sign.

I am in receipt of the sign plan material submitted by Richard Kvanbeck on behalf of the
James Companies . The information submitted appears to be consistent with the City ' s
" Sign Plan Requirements" and " Sign Ordinance" . Therefore I have approved the plan as
a the Director of Planning ' s designee .
I have also completed review of the application for " Great Clips" sign, and am prepared
to issue it upon receipt of the permit fee , which is as follows ;

Dear Ms . Platt :
Thank you for "faxing" a copy of the sign permit application for "Great Clips for Hair" .
After reviewing it I have the following comments .
1 . Section 5 -7 - 11 of the City ' s Sign Ordinance provides that a sign permit
not be issued until a sign plan for the entire property and/or building is approved
by the Director of Planning . Such plan is usually submitted by the
building/property owner. The plans on file with the City range from simple , one
page statements of the requirements and limitations to very detailed site and
building elevation plans . A sign plan does not exist for this building and would
have to be approved prior to issuance of a sign permit for "Great Clips" . A copy
of the Ordinance provisions follow.
2 . In order to determine whether the proposed sign. is appropriately sized
information related to the size of the building frontage for " Great Clips" should
also be submitted .
