CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 3:34 p.m. In attendance were Erin Belanger Braid, Cassandra Bryant, Shan- non Hoffmann, Kathy Dawson, Alejandra Pelinka, Jeanine Bigalk, Community Development Director Casey McCabe, and ACC Consultant Brenda Kayzar with Urbane DrK Consulting 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA a. Group approved the agenda 3. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES a. Group approved minutes from the April meeting 4. PRESENTATIONS a. Sheldon Bryant – Smoke Signals/Little Market That Could i. Located at Radermacher Field, Thursdays from 4 – 7 pm ii. Cofounder Rosemary Franks iii. $3-4K uptick in business at Tractor Supply on Thursday nights due to market iv. June 2 is opening day on the field; use Wireless SNAP and debit card that state puts out v. Ave 450 people per night, 105 vendors, serve 10 cities vi. Car show has average of 24 cars per night for viewing vii. Bloodmobile, women’s services, non-profit area, food trucks, ice cream, mini ponies, goat yoga, live music, hula hoop dancing, clowns, face painting, bingo viii. Best Family Entertainment by SW Media last year ix. Power Produce Program – healthy food program for kids and older adults x. High Schools to possibly create mural on side of the 40 ft trailer (9.5 ft x 40 ft) xi. Goal would be to own the field where the market is to be there permanently xii. Smokesignals.org, click on Little Marketing That Could (sheldonbryant.com) xiii. How can ACC help or contribute to this event? 5. OLD BUSINESS a. Public Works Event Follow Up i. Lots of positive feedback from the event ii. 400 at event, 2800 people voted for plow names iii. Plows will go to each 3rd grade class to get pictures iv. Event folder on Dropbox with images and follow up doc for committee members to add notes 1. Supply List – Jean to start it v. Improvements 1. Porta potties 2. Tent for shade 3. Food Truck (where patrons pay for food) 4. Picnic Tables 5. More signage or balloons b. Bench Committee Update i. Skate Park Bench Dedication Postponed ii. Bench has been installed iii. Future Benches – Optimist and VFW are interested in purchasing 1. Do we need a contract/agreement drawn up? 2. 12 pairs of downhill skis to be donated for bench 3. Putting out a call to ask for old skis, snowboards, etc. a. Where to drop and where to store 4. Need to figure out locations a. South Downtown by VFW, PLate, Flower Shop, Watzl’s Beach b. Possible walking tour with this group to spot out bench locations 5. How to maintain benches – can they handle weather/be weather-proofed? Graffitti? c. City Artist in Residence Committee Update i. Postpone this to start until 2023 – timeline is quite long (about 12 months) ii. Outline is in Dropbox iii. Need “sales pitch” to bring to EDA in 2022 – Ale to draft 6. NEW BUSINESS a. Eloise the Cow Discussion i. Has to be moved ASAP – Casey to talk to Andy about moving ii. Need a plan of how to move her and where her future pasture will be iii. Does any other business want it? Knotty Oar? Tractor Supply? (Eloise Committee) iv. Is it an opportunity or liability? v. Paint her at ChalkFest – this is a no as there won’t be enough room vi. Talk to Jeffrey about social posts - Casey b. Space for Artist/Author/Creator Events i. Identifying opportunities ii. Rock Creek Building iii. Farmer’s Market – sponsoring a table per week iv. Libraries – legacy funding for different events v. Club Prior/Boathouse Brothers c. Southtown Town i. EDA members have been talking about sidewalk quotes. ii. Come up with options, put out in community and vote iii. Group to come up with specific copy to be stamped. (under 200 characters) $500 - $800 iv. One for VFW too 7. OTHER BUSINESS a. Staff Updates i. Historical Boat Tour at Kathy’s (June 23 meeting) ii. Walking Tour of downtown being created by Kathy b. ACC Member Comments/Ideas c. Farmer’s Market Mural – add to next meeting 8.
