Absent: Councilor Braid. Also in attendance was City Manager Wedel, City Attorney Kendall, Parks and Rec Manager Hart, Police Chief Frazer, Fire Chief Steinhaus and City Clerk Simon. PUBLIC FORUM None. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Burkart: In respect to the individuals in the gallery this evening, lets move Item 6C to item 6A, and then move 6A to 6B and 6B to 6C. Churchill: In regard to items M and N, as the Liaison to the Planning Commission I am very ex- cited that we are approving 2 very qualified people. We had a number of applications, and we had some very qualified people apply. I am very excited that we are adding 2 alternates to the Plan- ning Commission as we will now always have a quorum and not have to cancel future meetings. PRESENTATIONS A. Proclamation Declaring June 28th, 2022, as Dave Carlson and John Conant Day in Prior Lake Briggs: Read the proclamation. Dave Carlson and John Conant: This was actually quite a surprise; we thought it was 38 years and not 37. It is really an honor. Would like to thank the Council for working with them over the 2 06 20 2022 City Council Meeting Minutes years for their events they have held such as street dances and car shows and different functions. It was always nice to have the Council and the Police Department approve all these promos. From the bottom of our heart, we appreciate all the support. Also wanted to thank the Council for assis- tance during the pandemic. There is a reason why they selected Prior Lake; it was people like you that helped make us successful. Recess called for photos at 7:10 pm. Meeting resumed at 7:14 pm. B. Proclamation Declaring July 2022 as Parks and Recreation Month in Prior Lake Briggs: Read the proclamation. Hart: Thank you mayor and council. Designating July as Parks and recreation month is a campaign supported by the national Recreation and Park Association to acknowledge the importance of parks and recreation and the benefits that it provides to our community. The recreation team consisting of full-time staff supported with seasonal staff dedicated to providing quality and trend setting ex- periences while striving to connect and embrace the community through promotion of enrichment and play. The City 's Public Works and Recreation team members are dedicated to building and maintaining our beautiful 55+ parks and trail system. Thank you again for the proclamation and all the support to the recreation department. C. Police and Fire Updates Chief Steinhaus and Chief Frazer presented the item to the Council. COUNCILMEMBER LIAISON UPDATES / COUNCILMEMBER REPORTS Churchill: 6/7 Live Learn Earn housing committee meeting, 6/10 SCALE general meeting, 6/13 Chamber of Commerce executive committee meeting, 6/16 Live Learn Earn steering committee meeting and agenda review Braid: Absent. 3 06 20 2022 City Council Meeting Minutes Burkart: 6/16 Suburban Transit Association board meeting, 6/20 transit meeting with the Met Council, 6/20 agenda review Thompson: 6/16 CEC board meeting, 6/20 agenda review Briggs: 6/8 skateboard bench park dedication, 6/10 SCALE general meeting, 6/10 Wild's HOA dunk tank, 6/11 Boathouse Brothers dunk tank, 6/13 Regional council of mayors meeting Briggs: Two quick announcements; First, tomorrow is the Equity summit at Prior Lake High School. Appreciative of the collaboration of the City of Credit River, City of Savage, Spring Lake Township and us on this matter. Second, next week is Prior Lake week on Twin Cities live. Wanted to thank KSTP television and Kelli Hanson of TCL team for highlighting our community. This all kicks off on June 27t", with a big showcase on 6/30 at Charlie's restaurant beginning at 3:00 pm for the live show. Wedel: Last week the city received two grants from the MN Dept of Natural Resources; one for the trunk highway 13 trail gap that we currently have from Pleasant to Anna, we received $250,000 towards that trail project. We also received a $300,000 grant for Ponds Park for improvements there. Steve Hart had a huge part in the success with getting all the applications together and should be commended for his work. Also wanted to highlight one of the PLPD retirements, Sergeant Rick Denmark had been with the city for 21 years, 28 years in total in his career. Last day served was this past Saturday.
